Dr. Mayank Anand Gururani

Our research areas are photosynthesis and abiotic stress physiology. Our focus is on understanding the mechanisms that regulate the abiotic stress damage to the photosynthetic apparatus at molecular level. I've been attempting to understand and investigate the putative role of various extrinsic proteins of photosystem II complex in abiotic stress tolerance and in the overall physiology of higher plants. Moreover, it would be exciting to elucidate if these extrinsic PSII proteins play any significant role(s) in the PSII-damage repair process. Using molecular biology and biophysical approaches like reverse genetics and chlorophyll-a fluorescence transient kinetics, we'd like to gain a comprehensive understanding of the mechanism and factors involved in the regulation of photosynthesis under abiotic stress conditions.
